Introduction

The NAO-Base is divided into the following sections: Movements With Sound, Movements Without Sound, Special Movements, End Pose, Speech Only, Text-To-Speech Tips, and a Glossary of Common Terms.  Below are descriptions of each section.

Movements With Sound:

This section includes robot behaviors that incorporate speech, music, or other sound along with physical movement. The subfolders in this section are:

Movements Without Sound:

These are the movements that do not contain any speech or sound from the robot and are strictly body motions. The subfolders in this section are:

Special Movements:

These are movements that were created for specific projects at the University of Notre Dame F.U.N. Lab or are used for demonstration purposes during presentations.

End Pose:

At the University of Notre Dame F.U.N. Lab and the Center for Children and Families, the robots use an consistent initial and ending position called End Pose. In this position, the NAO robot stands in a neutral position with arms at the side and knees slightly bent. This was developed as the starting point and finishing point for all behaviors so that the robot could easily transition into its next movement or command.

Speech Only:

These behavior files contain speech elements only, and can be paired with a generic movement to make the robot seem more lifelike while speaking.  The speech elements within these Choregraphe files serve as examples of how to correctly spell phrases in order to make the robot speak correctly.

Text-To-Speech Tips:

These tips help to make the robot speak in a more natural way using phonetic spellings.

Glossary of Common Terms:

This is a list of common words associated with the NAO-Base and their definitions.
